Ranidah Falls is famous for her beauty and love story of Rani Shiromani in Jaspur, where tourists come from Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha.
Located about 15 km from Jaspur district headquarters, this waterfall flows into two to three streams and falls from the rocks to form a huge pool. Here the stairs have been made to get down to protect tourists. When people reach down, the front view captivates.
A tragic love story is also associated with this waterfall. It is said that Queen Shiromani, the daughter of the king of Orissa, loved a young man, but her father and five brothers did not accept this relationship. After the family’s protest, the queen set out towards the forests. The five brothers chased, but the queen stood firm on her resolve. Finally he ended his life by jumping from the waterfall. It is believed that his five brothers turned into stones and since then this waterfall became famous as Ranidah.
An ancient Shiva temple is also located nearby. According to local priests, late night temple bells rings on their own and people believe that even today the soul of the queen is present in this area. In the rain, this waterfall becomes even more grand and tourists coming here return by experiencing both its beauty and love story.
