Bathukamma Kunta Lake of Ambarpet is an important part of Hyderabad’s cultural and environmental heritage. After decades neglect, this lake has been revived by the efforts of Hydraa. The lake can now support around 23.8 million liters of water and modern drain and drainage channels have been created for flood management.
Hyderabad. After the decades neglect, the historic Bathukamma Kunta Lake at Ambarpet has once again become the center of the city’s biggest cultural festival, Bathukamma. This year, on the concluding day of the nine -day festival, women will immerse their flowers offered to Goddess Gauri on ‘Saddula Bathukamma’. The restoration of the lake is considered to be an important achievement to save the water bodies of Hyderabad.
Chief Minister inaugurated
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated the revived lake on Tuesday and dedicated it to the public. Earlier, Hydraa Commissioner A.V. Ranganath inspected the site and directed the officials to ensure complete preparation for the Bathukamma ceremony.
Commissioner Ranganath said that special attention has been given to flood management in this project. A new outlet drain more than a kilometer has been constructed, which is expected to reduce the flood situation in the surrounding areas. The storage capacity of the lake is now recorded at 23.8 million liters and is equipped with inlet, waste dam and drainage channels for better water management.
New features of lake
The renovated lake adds several facilities for citizens, including granite gazebo, yoga platform and sports equipment. In the middle of the lake, a floating island and aircraft will also be installed to maintain the quality of water. Many facilities have been added for citizens in the renovated lake, such as granite gazebo, yoga platform and sports equipment. In the future, there is a plan to install Arter (aircraft) to maintain the island and water quality floating in the middle of the lake.
