Historical splendor of Mandu- The most famous tourist destination in Dhar district is Mandu, which is known worldwide due to its medieval architecture. Ship in Mandu is a historical sites like Mahal, Rani Roopmati Mahal, Hindola Mahal, Jami Masjid and Neelkantheshwar Temple. Apart from these, the elephant door and Shiva temple here are also incomparable. Mandu’s streets and palace describe the stories of history which gives tourists to wander. Here the stories of Rani Rupmati are always echoed in folk songs. Roopmati was a very beautiful and talented queen who became the last Hindu ruler of Malaka, Baz Bahadur Rani. The love story of these two became world famous. But Mughal Emperor Akbar attacked Malwa. Baz Bahadur and Roopmati fought together but Akbar’s army defeated Baz Bahadur. Rupmati committed suicide by drinking poisonous substance so that Akbar would not be able to handle his hands.

Religious places and templesThere are many ancient and sacred religious places in Dhar district, which are the center of attraction for the devotees. Kalika Temple, Dhareshwar Temple and Bada Ganpati Temple are famous near Dhar Fort. Bhojshala Mosque and Lat Mosque reflect the cultural heritage of the region. Pilgrimage sites like Bhopavar Jain pilgrimage and Mohankheda are also important for worship-devotees.

Tiger cave- Tiger caves located in Dhar district are near the town called Bagh, on the southern slopes of the Vindhya ranges of Madhya Pradesh. These caves are ancient structures associated with Buddhism, which were built around the sixth century in the Gupta period. This group of a total of nine caves is famous for its outstanding craftsmanship and mural paintings, which are considered a sample of high art like Ajanta caves. In tiger caves, big pavilions, stupas, and monasteries made for monks are found in the cells. Among them, the second cave is particularly known as the Pandava cave and is the most wide and protected cave. Pictures of caves reflect not only religion and culture, but also present a glimpse of social system and lifestyle of that time.
Dinosaur Fossil National Park-Dinosaur Fossil National Park is in Dhar district itself. Here many animals and plants of ancient times are safe. These fossils are millions of years old and give geological information of the ancient era of the Earth. The park is spread over about 89 hectares and makes this area of the Narmada Valley very important from the point of view of fossils. Here are the 6.5 million year old vegetarian dinosaurs’ fossils of harsh eggs, which are counted among the largest eggs in history. Fossils of 7.4 to 10 million years old shark fish are also present in the Narmada Valley. Apart from this, 7 million years old huge trees and 8.6 million year old sea creatures are also preserved here.
