Mahabharata Places in Uttarakhand: Uttarakhand is known for its natural beauty as well as those mysterious places which are associated with the Mahabharata period. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has found many ancient idols and remains in excavations here, which shows that the region has been important since ancient times.
In the mythological period, this place was the taposthali of the gods. The gods performed severe penance here and Lord Shiva himself appeared. After this, sages and sages also started coming here. In the Mahabharata period, Guru Dronahacharya meditated here for 12 years. The most important thing is that Lord Shiva gave knowledge of Dhunarvidya to the Pandavas and the Guru of the Kauravas here.
There is a local legend about the Bairat trench that the Pandavas were living at this place of Jaunsar Bawar during the unknown. At that time this place was the city of King Virat. Currently many old ruins still exist today, which forces us to look towards history. Significantly, the Pandavas spent time in many areas of Jaunsar Bawar. This area, situated among the beautiful hills, has now also become the center of tourism.
Bhadrakali Devi was the total goddess of the Pandavas. This temple, situated in the foothills of the mountain, is still the center of people’s faith. According to Maheshwaroop Brahmachari, the founder of the Sadhak Sangh, at some time, there was a tunnel under the temple (Mysterious Temples of Uttarakhand), which had one end of the lacquer. It is believed that the Pandavas used to reach Lakhmandal through this route, where millions of Shivling are present. Even though this tunnel has been closed at present, but even today people consider this temple to be mysterious and very miraculous.
