West Champaran. After a long wait, the jungle safari has started once again in Valmiki Tiger Reserve. Nestled amidst dense forests and beautiful valleys, the various ranges of VTR are buzzing with tourists. This year’s jungle safari session was formally started on Thursday 23rd October at around 6 am from Hotel Valmiki Vihar located under Valmikinagar forest area. The interesting thing is that on the first day itself, more than 200 tourists enjoyed the jungle safari, who got the exciting experience of seeing many wild animals like bear, deer, sambar.
Let us tell you that Forest Conservator Dr. Neshamani and DFO Vikas Ahlawat flagged off the safari jeeps, which successfully inaugurated the tourism season which was closed after four months. Tourists from Central Drug Research Institute, Dr. Ehsaas Omin from Lucknow, Arshad Jameel from Motihari, and Abhishek Vivek from Gorakhpur were included in these safari vehicles along with their families.
Tourists got to see wild animals
During the jungle safari, tourists got a chance to see innumerable birds including bear, sambar, deer, peacock and wild fowl at close range. Tourist Rajan Kumar says that he has been on jungle safari many times, but this is the first time he has got a chance to see the bear so closely.
Safari is closed for this reason
Forest Conservator Dr. Neshamani K. says that in view of animal breeding and monsoon season, the jungle safari was kept closed for four months. Now with the beginning of this season, the forest department will also allow private jeeps to run for jungle safari. Interested local people can contact the forest department and ensure their permission.

Spread over about 900 square kilometers, Valmiki Tiger Reserve is home to countless rare creatures including tiger, leopard, striped hyena, Indian wolf, gaur, king cobra, clouded leopard, dhole (wild dog), serow (rock climbing goat), chital and sambar, sloth bear etc. As far as tourist places are concerned, Maharishi Valmiki Ashram, ancient Kaleshwar Temple, Jatashankar Temple, Nardevi Temple, Govardhana, Sofa Temple etc. are famous among them. In this reserve situated on the border of Nepal, you can enjoy unique views of nature and activities like rafting including safari.
