Sonar Fort in Jaisalmer, where valor also lives in stones. Sonar Fort was built in 1156 AD by Bhati Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal. This fort, made of yellow sandstone, glows like gold at sunset. Therefore it is called Sonar Fort. It is the only living fort in the country, where even today hundreds of families reside. This fort is 1500 feet long, 750 feet wide and 250 feet high mountain.
The walls of Patwa’s mansion also talk. Patwa Haveli is the second most attraction center in Jaisalmer after Jaisalmer Fort. It is also known as a mansion of bronchade traders. The construction of the Patwa Haveli was completed in 5 decades. It was built by five brothers to their respective parts. For admission to this mansion, Rs 20 per person has been kept for Indian citizens and Rs 100 per person for foreign guests.
The Gadisar pond built by Raja Gadasi used to be a lifeline for the city of Jaisalmer. Now it is buzzing with tourists. Here, along with the boat ride, the umbrellas and temples built around captivate everyone. Many processions, Gangaur Utsav, Teej and Jal Festival are also organized on this lake.
Kuldhara is a cursed and mysterious village located in Jaisalmer district, also known as the village of ghosts. Thousands of people come here to roam here. Here not only the local people but also from the country and abroad also come to see the ghostly village. It is located about 18 km from Jaisalmer. Here the village is still falling prey to its plight in ruins.
This mansion, once made by Salim Singh, who was once the Diwan of Jaisalmer, is famous for its unique roof and peacock’s neck. Local people also call it “Peacock Chhatri Haveli”. It is just 5 km from the bus stand. Salim Singh’s mansion is open to tourists from 8 am to 6 pm. The entry fee for Indian tourist is Rs 20 while for foreign guests is Rs 100.
The sun ride the velvet dhore camel, folk music, Kalbeliya dance and golden sand, located about 40 km from Jaisalmer, makes everyone feel relaxed. Tourists visiting here remember a lifetime. Here the tourist is accommodated in luxury tents instead of pucca hotel. Everyone wants to enjoy riding the desert ship in the sea of this sand. On seeing the sunset in the sand, everyone is desperate to do photography. It is buzzing with tourists every day.
The ancient Jain temple in Lodrawa village, about 15 km from Jaisalmer, is a lively example of architecture. Tanot Mata Temple is located about 120 km from the city of Jaisalmer. It takes more than 2 hours to reach here by road. The shelling on Tanot Mata during the 1971 Indo -Pak war has also been shown in the 1997 Bollywood war film border. In this temple, BSF jawans worship in the morning and evening. Not only this, it is also called the goddess with a handkerchief, because a handkerchief of vow is tied here.
