How to reach Gangtok from Bihar: Train, bus and flight options.

It is quite easy to reach here and many types of facilities are available from rail route, road and air route to go from Bihar. One of them is also named after Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Gangtok is a beautiful hill station and is called heaven of Northeast India.

If you live in any part of Bihar, then you can reach Gangtok by train from there. There is no railway station in Gangtok, so you can reach Siliguri or New Jalpaiguri railway station and go to Gangtok from there. Many trains are available from various stations including Kiul, Patna, Barauni, Bhagalpur in Bihar to New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri. From Kiul railway station, you can reach Siliguri via Katihar or Malda via Bhagalpur. It will take you 6 to eight hours to reach New Jalpaiguri. After reaching New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri, there is a taxi, private cab or jeep for Gangtok, which travels 125 km in about 4-5 hours and transports Gangtok.

Even if you want to go to Gangtok by road, you can still reach here with easily. Bihar-Bengal border Kishanganj, Purnia and Araria etc. can be passed from Gangtok district. If you want to go from Bihar’s capital Patna to Gangtok, then you can reach Siliguri via NH-27 via Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Farbisganj, Kishanganj. Then you can reach Gangtok directly through NH-10. The distance from Patna to Gangtok is about 650 kilometers. If you want to go by road, then you can reach Gangtok from Patna in 14 to 16 hours. Apart from this, many buses are also available for Siliguri from cities like Bhagalpur, Patna, Saharsa, Katihar, Purnia etc.

If you want to go to Gangtok by air, then you can reach here very easily. Bagdogra Airport is present near Siliguri, from where you can go to Gangtok. Flight is available for Bagdogra Airport from Patna, Gaya and Darbhanga airports in Bihar. The distance from Bagdogra to Gangtok is about 125 kilometers. From the airport, you can go there with prepaid taxis, sharing vehicles and private cabs etc. for Gangtok. The path from Bagdogra to Gangtok is a hill and has to travel for four to five hours. In such a situation, if you want to enjoy a hill station at a low cost, then you can roam Gangtok.
