Bihar Karvandiya Picnic Spot: Karvandiya Picnic Spot is a former mining area of Sasaram. Now it is famous for its beautiful lakes and peaceful environment. People also call it “KGF of Bihar”.
Karvandia, located in Sasaram in Rohtas district of Bihar, was once famous for mining of stone and limestone. Now it has become a popular picnic spot. Deep mines and pits filled with water are the main centers of attraction here. From October to March this place is considered ideal for sightseeing and picnic.
At one time Karvandia was the largest mining area of Bihar. The strong stone coming out from here was used in the construction of roads, bridges, houses and government buildings. With time, when mining operations stopped, these deep mines filled with rain water and turned into beautiful lakes.
These deep lakes formed after mining stopped now look no less than a natural lake. The water is so clear and deep that the reflection of the sky is reflected in it like a mirror. This scene mesmerizes people and they sit here for hours and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Because of the deep mines, rocks and thrilling views, people also jokingly call Karwandia “KGF of Bihar”. The landscape here is so attractive that it looks like a film location. Many youth also come here for photoshoots and video shoots.
The biggest feature of Karvandia is its peace and cleanliness. The far reaching mountains and blue water give peace to the mind. People sit here for hours with family or friends and enjoy the fresh air and natural beauty.
Karvandia is not only a mining area but also a place associated with folklore and ancient beliefs. Local people say that in ancient times, god worship and religious rituals used to take place here. This is the reason why this place is also considered important from cultural point of view.
Karvandia Mines is located at a distance of about 8 kilometers from Sasaram city. The nearest railway station is Sasaram Junction, which is connected to Patna, Varanasi and Delhi. Gaya (130 km) and Patna (160 km) are the nearest airports. It can also be easily reached by road through NH-19. The best time to visit is the winter season from October to March.
