Every year a large number of people visit Nepal from Gorakhpur. Nepal has been the nearest and affordable tourist destination for them due to being a border area. But recently the increasing violence and unstable atmosphere in Nepal has changed the plans of tourists here. Now tourists from Gorakhpur and nearby are turning to Uttarakhand and Himachal.
Some tourists say that they had earlier planned to visit Nepal, but after the situation in Nepal deteriorated, he changed his route. He says that it is more important to spend holidays with the family at a safe place. This is the reason that now people are getting attracted towards safe and natural sites like Mussoorie, Nainital, Rishikesh, Shimla and Manali.
Uttarakhand- Demand for Himachal package
Vivek, who works in tourism in Gorakhpur, says that he had many packages from Nepal. But due to the bad situation, the tourists canceled the booking. Now the same people are demanding the package of Ayodhya, Uttarakhand and Himachal. Vivek says that, this change has caused him a loss, but on the other hand the demand for hill stations of North India has suddenly increased.
Another interesting aspect has emerged amidst Nepal’s instability. Tourists are now going towards religious places like Ayodhya, not only mountains. Devotees from all over the country are currently reaching the Ram temple to see the Ram temple. A large number of people from Gorakhpur are also leaving the idea of going to Nepal and traveling to Ayodhya.
Focus on security and convenience
Nepal has been a major tourist destination for the people of Gorakhpur for a long time. But the current situation has made it clear that, tourists are now giving priority to security and convenience. In such a situation, along with the tourist destinations of Uttarakhand and Himachal, religious places like Ayodhya are emerging as new centers for tourists. It is clear that, the direct impact of Nepal’s deteriorating situation is visible on Gorakhpur and surrounding tourism, where mountains and shrines are now becoming the first choice of tourists.
