This fort was built by the Padma Nayak Velma kings between the 13th-14th century. It was established at a strategic location between seven hills, making it a natural fortification. Attractions inside the fort
There are many places of interest in the fort complex. There are two ancient temples dedicated to Ram and Shiva inside the fort, which reflect the religious importance of this place. There is a huge pond here, which is said to never dry up. Stairs from the fort go down to Patal Ganga situated in the backwaters of Krishna river. It is believed that this holy water has curative properties and devotees come here to take bath.
