Indira canteen in hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken a big decision, making the cheap food scheme launched for the poor and working class further. The name of ‘Annapurna Canteen’ has now been named ‘Indira Canteen’, where lunch will be available for 5 rupees as before and now morning breakfast will also be available for just 5 rupees.
Project background
The scheme was earlier started by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government under the name ‘Annapurna Canteen’, which has now been changed to ‘Indira Canteen’. Its purpose is to provide quality food at cheap prices to the poor, daily laborers and people with low income. The poor and working class of the city are expected to get a lot of relief from this scheme. An auto driver Ramesh said, if you get good food for 5 rupees, then people like us will save money and you will also get healthy food.
Earlier this canteen used to be named Annapurna canteen, now the Congress government changed its name to Indira Canteen, after which the BRS surrounded the government and protested, along with people, people also say.
Further plans
GHMC officials said that the idea of further expanding the scheme is going on in future, which can also include light breakfast. In this way, this initiative of GHMC will not only provide cheap and nutritious food to the poor, but will also play an important role in the development and beautification of the city.
