Meaning of Pandavula Gutta
The Pandavula Gutta, called the treasure of history and heritage, means the ‘hill of Pandavas’. It is a geological and cultural significance. According to local stories, the Pandavas of Mahabharata took refuge here once during their exile, which made this place mythologically important. There is evidence of human habitat from the Central Purush period on this hill. And the artworks present here show that this region was once home to ancient communities.
Naveen, local research scholar from Local 18, says that Pandavula Gutta is a unique place as well as an important place for geological studies, the Geological Survey of India (GSI) recognized its importance in 2024 by nominating it as the only geophysical site of Telangana. It suggests that this site is not only a historical site but also some of its required Himalayas and it should be preserved as proof of the Deccan Plateau.
