Hyderabad: Ooty has been the favorite hill station of the people of Hyderabad. The cool breeze, winding roads and lush green tea gardens here provide relief from the heat of Hyderabad. Many families have been coming here for generations. But very few people know that in a quiet corner of Ooty there is a secret hidden in the royal history of Hyderabad. The secret of Nizam Palace, which was once associated with the last Nizam of Hyderabad.

The story of this palace begins in the 1860s, when an Englishman, Mr. Rhodes, built a bungalow on the Nilgiri hills and named it The Cedars. It soon came to be known as the most English style house in Ooty. Its gardens were very beautiful, with flowers brought from England, tall bushes and lush green lawns. The structure of the bungalow was also in colonial style. Which had sloping roofs, wide verandahs and airy windows. The rooms inside were comfortable and simple.

Nizam bought Bagala
Mir Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, purchased this bungalow and made it his summer palace. Although he himself rarely visited here, this place became a popular resting place for British officers coming from Hyderabad. One of them was Sir William Barton, whose daughter has mentioned this place and the moments spent here in her book.

Ignored and closed palace
But today this palace is remembering its glorious days. Nizam Palace now lies ignored and closed. Public is prohibited from coming here and the building is slowly falling apart. Due to legal disputes and family disputes, this historical heritage has neither been conserved nor found any new use. Sometimes there was a proposal to convert it into a school, but that too was not completed. In this way this palace is waiting for its future, while its grand past is slowly turning into ruins.
